My Darkest Moment

My darkest moment occurred in the Spring of 2017 when the vivid thought of ending my own life first started to haunt me. I was sitting on my couch in my apartment, by myself, and feeling like my world was falling apart around me. My initial reaction was that I did not want to end my life, but things needed to change if I wanted defeat the deadly thoughts in my head.

My wellness journey didn’t start for fun, I did it to survive in my own headspace. This dark moment in my life uncomfortably pushed me to read dozens of self- improvement books, participate in multiple therapeutic practices, shift dietary habits, and prioritize learning what being healthy mentally and physically actually meant.

Implementing all the lessons I have learned over the past four years, I came up with this short list of major life factors that contributed to the decline of my mental and physical health.

  • Low self-esteem
  • Poor health practices
  • Mismanaged trauma

Lesson learned:

Having suicidal ideologies was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever experienced. However, what it did for me is shift me into a stronger version of myself.

Life is all about perspective. It took a conscious decision on my part to put in the work necessary to change my outlook on my life.

Nothing easy is worth having. Be prepared for getting comfortable with being uncomfortable.
